If you are interested in our food supply system (who isn't?), "The
Omnivore's Dilemma" is a "must read". Michael Pollan examines and
explains our current "factory" food system that is based almost
entirely on corn which is grown with the primary input of natural gas
derived nitrogen fertilizer. He makes a compelling case for the
desirablity of more local production of food, a position near to my
heart!
I recently read a captivating book that deals with 1930s era
subsistance
farming, cotton farming, and the "taking" of Fort Hood. Here is my

Donna Menke is wife to my stellar farmers market representative and an
accomplished and enthusiastic wood worker. Not to mention a PUBLISHED
author!
